When it comes to mounting the camera, you have two choices. The up button also doubles to turn on the wifi connection to the phone app and the down button also doubles to turn on sound recording so you have to be careful because you can turn off sound recording inadvertently (one of the clips I recorded for this test doesn’t have sound). The Elinz 4K doesn’t have a touch sensitive screen so it deals with menus by including a power button on the front, an OK (multi-purpose button on top) and up/down buttons on the side. The mountings are all GoPro compatible, however. The unit is a tad smaller than the GoPro and doesn’t fit any GoPro housings, but this isn’t a concern because the Elinz comes with a veritable swag of mountings, housings and accessories (which the GoPro doesn’t). The Elinz stays with the waterproof housing so the HDMI, Micro SD Card slot and power connections are all open meaning easier and faster access. Later GoPro’s are now waterproof without the housing so all the doors (battery, connections) are hard to get into. Unsurprisingly the camera design is very similar to the GoPro, which makes sense if you’re a competitor trying to cannibalise some of GoPro’s market.
